MWD-100 Facts
Ethyl Mercaptan provides a detectable odor at a ratio of 1 gram
per 220,000 cubic feet of air.
One MWD cartridge contains 100 grams of ethyl mercaptan and should
be effective in odorizing approximately 22,000,000 cubic feet of air.
Individual mine test should be conducted as temperature, distance, air
flow and the release rates will effect the distribution in each
individual mine application.
A single MWD-100 cartridge will empty itself in ten seconds at
full open valve. Tests have been made with a restrictor placed at the
valve opening as follows:
(1) A 0.69mm (#71 wire drill hole)
will release in 90 seconds.
(2) A 1.04mm (#59 wire drill hole)
will release in 57 seconds.
(3) A 1.58mm (#52 wire drill hole)
will release in 32 seconds.
These restrictor recommendations have been used where volumes of
air did not warrant full release within 10 seconds.
